Zoom Questions & Answers
Is Zoom the same as regular laser teeth whitening?
While Zoom teeth whitening is often referred to as “laser” teeth whitening, Zoom teeth whitening and regular laser teeth whitening are two similar, yet different, procedures:
REGULAR LASER TEETH WHITENING
Regular laser teeth whitening uses infrared heat to activate peroxide whitening mixtures that penetrate tooth enamel to bleach out stains and discolouration.
With regular laser teeth whitening, there is a risk of overheating teeth, which can lead to nerve damage. While generally a safe procedure, the added risk may be worth considering for some patients.
ZOOM! LASER TEETH WHITENING
Zoom SpeedWhite laser teeth whitening uses a patented ultraviolet light to activate it’s 25% hydrogen peroxide whitening gel. The ultraviolet light is able to filter out unwanted infrared heat, while forcing the whitening gel deep into each tooth’s enamel. Zoom! is most effective for removing yellow to brown tooth discolouration.
BENEFITS TO ZOOM
While regular laser teeth whitening procedures can achieve similar whitening results to Zoom, the main difference is that Zoom! prevents unwanted tooth exposure to infrared heat. The results are therefore safer and can whiten teeth up to eight shades in just three 15 minute ultraviolet light sessions. The complete treatment usually takes 90 minutes.
Is Zoom safe?
Yes. Extensive research and clinical studies indicate that whitening teeth under the supervision of a dental professional is safe.
Does Zoom cause sensitivity?
Many over-the-counter whitening products put your gums in contact with whitening agents, which can cause sensitivity. Zoom! requires a dental professional to block off gums from coming into contact with the whitening gel. This gives patients an extra layer of comfort during whitening treatment.
How long does Zoom last?
Olive Branch provides free consultation during each whitening treatment which includes recommendations on how to properly take care of your newly whitened teeth.
How long does treatment take?
Treatment begins with a preparation period and is followed by three 15 minute whitening sessions where a UV lamp activates the Zoom whitening gel.
